The Windows 95 startup sound is something special. The first time it was not just a simple signal, but a jingle. The story behind it is something with Brian Eno, on aseparate page . Duration: about 6 seconds.

Your startup sound may sound choppy, contain popping sounds, or pause while it is played. This issue occurs only with some hardware devices and drivers loaded. This issue does not affect the functionality of Windows XP or of Windows Vista or of Windows 7.

Scare Factor: Minimal for the default sounds. The synth crescendo may remind the Deep Note of THX. Though it can range from none to medium for the Plus! sounds, but none for the most part. This is a peaceful startup screen. It is also a favorite of many.

Scare Factor: Minimal to low. The startup and shutdown sounds may turn some people off, but the scare factor is none for most people, as this screen AND the startup and shutdown music are cherished by many logo and non-logo fans, to the point where it became an internet sensation.

Startup Sound (Music/Sounds): The same beeping arpeggio from the NT 5 startup sound, but faster and high-pitched, and backed by a chorus pad. Much more pleasant than the original startup sound.

No builds of Whistler ever used or even included the widespread startup and shutdown sounds. These originate from a Whistler theme from ThemeWorld, which includes an entire sound scheme of sounds from various sources such as Windows 98 Plus!, although these are not widespread. The fake startup sound was made for the previous one, using Windows 98 Plus!'s World Traveler, Architecture shutdown sound, and PhotoDisc startup sound, and the final version using Windows 98's shutdown sound reversed, Windows 2000 build 1983.1 to build 2000.3's startup sound reversed, and the Next Level sound from a game titled Spring Weekend included in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack slowed down, while the shutdown sound came from BeOS albeit down sampled.

Startup Sound (Music/Sounds): The same beeping arpeggio from Windows NT 5.0's The Microsoft Sound, but faster and high-pitched, and backed by a chorus pad. Much more pleasant than the original startup sound, and its shutdown sound. This was originally going to be used for the Beta 1 shutdown sound.

Music/Sounds: Early Betas/Builds until build 2481 used the Windows 2000/ME sounds, while Build 2481 introduced the Windows XP sounds. Build 2485 is the first build to use Windows XP sounds by default. The fake startup is a reverse Windows 98 shutdown sound ending in a ascending vibraphone melody (taken from Windows CE, however it has been slowed down) and ends with the Windows 2000 startup sound from beta 3 reversed. The fake shut down is a descending guitar melody ending with a few twinkling notes.

He joined YouTube a few days before his birthday on November 11, 2017. A few days later on November 18, 2017, he uploaded the first video on the channel which shows the evolutions on Microsoft Windows logo. And a few months after that, he uploaded more videos including several tutorial which is now unlisted, an evolution of Microsoft Windows startup sound.

I came across this German site WinHistory.de which contains lots of info about all the history of Windows right from version 1.0 to Windows Vista. Here is the English translated version of the web site. The site has a great collection of all the box shots, screenshots, version history and even virtual machine images of these operating systems. You can even get to know about all the beta versions of Windows like Windows Chicago for instance which later became Windows 95. The downloads section lets you download startup/boot disks, Preview version of Windows 3.1 and the infamous Microsoft Bob.

If you have got any startup sound from any other version(even from beta) of Windows or you have the default wallpaper collection from different version of Windows especially those from Windows 95 do share it with us here. I miss that cloud wallpaper.. oo those old days of my 486 box on which I used to run Windows 95.
